Anchored 80 kilometers off the coast of Congo in the Gulf of Guinea above the N’Kossa oil and gas field, this oil barge is one of the largest worldwide offshore installations: 220m long, 46 m wide and 16 m high, and weighing 110,000 metric tons.
Record intervention time
After 9 years of uninterrupted operation, it took teams from the Ortec group only 14 days to perform the complete shutdown of the unit. A tremendous challenge, the shutdown took 8 months to prepare:
- Studies
- Design
- Supply of materials
- Teams planning
400 m3 of equipment…
This is the total amount of equipment that was prepared, checked and brought on site. The teams prepared in advance by unscrewing, greasing and retightening all the bolts to be used for the work, so that they could get straight to work on the first day.
The operation was carried out by 550 personnel, including 300 Ortec group employees.
This unit shutdown was a complete success in terms of compliance with deadlines, the high standard of work done and the complete safety and security.
